Once the ship wastes are delivered to the reception facility depot, bilge and ballast waters are treated.


Port Reception Facility Depot


The oil is separated and pumped to the oil tank and the water is pumped back to the nearest water body according to the MARPOL standards; the solid waste (garbage) is, after inspected and approved for disposal, trucked away to the nearest sanitary landfill. The wastewater (sewage) is pumped to the nearest municipal sewer inlet.
